Announcement of forming HIC Committees

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Assalamu Alikum,

The board of Directors is glad to announce about forming new committees to manage the activities and facilities owned by the HIC (Hiroshima Islamic Council). All interested registered general members are encouraged to apply for the positions. To apply, please check the details below and submit an application form at the bottom of this page. You can apply for at most three positions ordered by your preference. However, you will be assigned to one committee. The deadline for accepting applications is 10th December 2016.

HIC Facility Management Committee

Description	This committee is to take care of the HICC common facilities, which includes 1- The main hall of the Masjid 2- Wudu Rooms 3- Multipurpose room 4- Seminar rooms (5F) 5- Elevator entrance hall 6- Stairs and corridors 7- Dining Halls 8- building roof 9-Parking lots 10- Bicycles place 11- Dawaah room 13- HICC Van 14- garbage place 15- Outer fence 16- Kitchen
Duties	Keep the whole facilities in good conditions by calling for a weekly cleaning of the facilities and calling for general clearing from time to time. Reporting to the board of directors about the damages in the facilities and submitting any necessary repair/ maintenance requests. Checking the readiness of the fire extinguishers Educating the new tenants about the garbage classification system Buying all the necessary cleaning materials and tools Maintain a schedule for the events to take place in the facility Maintain the HICC van working and in a good shape Maintain the Dawaah room clean and ready for hosting HIC Islamic guests
Members	3 members (Preferably two from the current tenants of the building and one director) (One head and two members)

HIC Educational Committee

Description	The committee is to work on preparing the environment for educating the Muslim community members in Hiroshima about their religion based on the guidance of the Holy Quran and following the teaching of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Special emphasize should be given for the children religious education. Another type of educations such as science, culture, literature. Etc. can all be conducted under the umbrella of the current committee and it is open for public. This educational system used by the committee can include both online and offline educations.
Duties	Preparing 4 months’ schedule (one semester) for all courses to be run under the HIC Prepare a description of each course, its contents and the number of studying hours required to complete each course Selecting an instructor and a substitute for each course Deciding the minimum and the maximum number of students of each course Deciding the enrollment fee in each course to cover all the expenses required to guaranty the success of the course (If needed) Deciding the system for student’s enrollments Developing evaluation system for the student’s level prior and after completing the course Developing certification and archive system for the materials of all the courses. Contact other institutions/organizations to bring credibility to the HIC education system
Members	• Three to five members including the head. • Instructors and their substitutes are not necessary to be managing members of the committee. • For non-religious education: Muslims, Non-Muslims, Japanese or foreigners can be accepted as instructors and students

HIC Dawaah and Publication Committee

Description	The committee is to work on preparing ways for implementation (to spread the Islamic knowledge in the prefecture).
Duties	Arranging Islamic events, such as Jumaah prayers, Eid prayers, Kusuf and Khusuf prayers….etc. Updating the HICC homepage with every Islamic activity, reports and news taking place in the prefecture (in both versions of the website) Updating the HICC Facebook page with every Islamic activity, reports and news taking place in the prefecture Developing a librarian system for the library of the center Developing an online library of the center that contains and the Islamic books in Japanese, English, Arabic and other languages Preparing Islamic public seminars and inviting Islamic scholars for better understanding of the Islam among the Japanese public Updating the daily prayers timetable Arranging Islam embracing ceremony Arrange for Islamic marriage ceremony Divorce procedure and Islah efforts Arrange for Islamic funeral ceremony and preparing other related issues such as grave, body washing and transportation. Preparing newsletters about the Islamic activities in the prefecture and work on the proper distribution of it. Serving Transportation for Jumm`ah and Jama`ah prayers Sadaqa, Zakat and other related issues.
Members	• Three to five members including the head. • Good Islamic knowledge. • Japanese language ability is must for at least two of the members

HIC Women Committee

Description	The committee is to work on educating and keep the activities of Muslim ladies in the prefecture.
Duties	The duties could include, but not limited to the following: Islamic Education for ladies and Kids (online and offline) Cooking classes to promote the Islamic countries culture (Japanese, foreign, Muslims and non-Muslims participants are welcomed). Announcement and advertising is to be conducted through the Dawaah and publication committee. Description	The committee is to organize all the sport and outdoor activities for Muslim adults and youth
Duties	The duties could include, but not limited to the following and participation is open to the public. Making the arrangement and the reservations for futsal and badminton games Making the arrangement of cycling events Making the arrangement for mountain climbing events Site visits for cultural and natural spots within Hiroshima. Youth camp and workshop
Members	• Two members and one head. (Three in total) • It is preferable to have more than one member from Hiroshima University students. • Under 40 years old.

The committee is to organize all the sport and outdoor activities for Muslim adults and youth

About HICC

All the praises and thanks be to Allah Almighty, the Giver of bountiful blessings and gifts.

Hiroshima Islamic Cultural Center (HICC) is the first Islamic cultural center and Masjid to be founded in Hiroshima prefecture in May 2012. It shall be an aromatic seed planted here. With the necessary care, Muslims will reap its fine fruits soon, Insha'Allah.

Objectives

Gather Muslims in Hiroshima under one umbrella to strengthen the community relations.
To be a bridge between Japanese society and Muslims to increase the mutual understanding, and share friendship, cultures, traditions.
Hold different activities and programs to let Muslim families live Islam in Japan.

History

Saijo Muslim Association (SMA) was founded more than 15 years ago by the Muslims studying in Hiroshima University. That is to unite the Muslims coming from different nationalities and practice their religion.
A few years later it was changed to Hiroshima Muslim Association (HMA) to extend their scope of work to cover the whole Hiroshima Prefecture.
HICC is an organization registered by the HMA to the Japanese government in the mid of 2008 that has a goal to establish a place for Muslims in Hiroshima Prefecture in order to do their religious activities and as a center for sharing knowledge, cultures and friendship with Japanese society.
On the November 16th 2011, Hiroshima Court has formally changed the ownership of center's land and building to Hiroshima Islamic Cultural Center (HICC).

Acknowledgement

After thanking the almighty Allah, we would like to sincerely thank to all Muslims, especially in Hiroshima and Japan, who supported this project so that we were able to found this Islamic cultural center. May Allah rewards all of them the best.

We also would like to thank to the Japanese government and its society who are very much welcome and open for other people from different cultures, traditions and religions to establish such a center among their society and we believe that this can be a beautiful way to keep the world in a peaceful, understanding and friendly atmosphere.

Opening Ceremony

Hiroshima is the city of peace and Islam is the religion of peace. For the purpose of building a peaceful society and spreading the message of tranquil to the human beings all over the world, the Islamic Cultural Center in Higashi-Hiroshima City was established.

It was a memorable journey for all Muslims in Japan, especially in Hiroshima, full with struggles till they got their prize; the first Masjid and Islamic center in Hiroshima. The center was opened officially in April 2012 by receiving a visit from the Saudi Arabia ambassador, Higashihiroshima city mayor, and other prestigious guests along with our fellow Muslims.

Then, the opening ceremony was held on 4th May 2012 by arranging a special program as follows:

On the same day, a lecture was given by Shaikh Ahmed Maeno after Maghreb prayer. On the next day, 5^th May, there was an open day.

Hiroshima Islamic cultural center - opening ceremony

As-Salam Masjid

It is the first Masjid in Hiroshima prefecture located in the 4^th floor of the Hiroshima Islamic cultural center. As-Salam Masjid is open every day for all Muslims living in or visiting Hiroshima to practice their religious duties such the five prayers, reciting Qur'an, etc. Moreover, it offers the place for Muslims to congregate and practice:

Friday's Prayer.
Eid Prayers.
Traweeh Prayer (in the holy month of Ramadan)

Not to forget, many lectures and classes are being held to expand the knowledge of Islam in our brothers and sisters. Having such a place in Hiroshima brings to Muslims the chance to exploit the most merits of congregational worshiping, and to keep their children connected with the real practices of Islam.
