Hiroshima Islamic Cultural Center (HICC) organized an open lecture entitled “The Concept of Time in Islam” which was delivered by Sheikh Mohsen Shaker al – Bayoumi from Osaka Mosque . Sheikh Mohsen opened his lecture by a question: “Is time a creation of Allah?” The answer was, yes, time is Allah’s creation . In one hadith there was a prohibition of cursing time, because time is God’s creation. According to a hadith,

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: The son of Adam displeases Me by abusing Dahr (time), whereas I am Dahr– I alternate the night and the day.

Time is really important that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala makes times as names of surah in Qur’an. Starting the surahs with time, for instance, surah Al Lail. Even more, Allah swears by the times. All of those show the importance of time. Surely Allah makes time to be a test for people so that they must use it properly.
